We have currently applied to study to Masters of Business Psychology at the university of east london, UK 80% funded by Unicaf University.
Nnalolile founder, Miss Victoria is also a student recruitment partner — meaning I earn a referral fee when someone enrols through my link, and we are going to tell you why exactly we chose to spend my 6000 pounds on an online masters’ degree.
We are telling you this upfront, in the first paragraph, because this publication is built on editorial honesty. Everything you read in this series — including this post — is my genuine assessment. If something doesn’t work, we will say so.
If something exceeds expectations, we will say that too.
We deserve both.

Consumer Insight Note
Reflecting a broader 2026 trend, Unicaf seekers are moving away from general “online degree” searches toward “Answer Engine Optimization” style queries. Users are asking AI tools specific questions like “Is a Unicaf PhD recognized by CUE in Kenya?” rather than just browsing for the website.
Would you like me to look up specific accreditation details for a particular program, or perhaps draft a scholarship application statement for you?
This tells you something important:
a lot of people encounter Unicaf, feel genuinely interested, and then feel genuinely unsure. The gap between the scholarship offer and the trust it requires is real, and it’s growing.
That is the gap this post will close — directly, with facts, and without marketing language.
Is the Unicaf scholarship real?
Direct Answer.
Yes.
Unicaf is a legitimate, operating higher education platform founded in 2012. It is not a scam, not a diploma mill, and not a phishing scheme.
The scholarship is a genuine fee reduction — not a cash bursary, but a documented discount applied to your tuition.
The fee structure is specified in a formal offer letter before you pay anything.

Where people get confused — and where I believe the “is it fake” searches originate — is a combination of three things.
- First, the scholarship offer arrives quickly, sometimes within hours of submitting an interest form, which feels too easy. It took us years. We needed more experience on our portfolio to make the cut.
- Second, the amounts are large — 60% -80% off a university degree sounds like it should be impossible. Honestly we don’t see why we shouldn’t get 100% .Let’s guess the refferals should cover the rest.
- Third, because Unicaf operates primarily online and is based in Cyprus, it doesn’t have the physical presence that makes a local institution feel obviously legitimate.
None of these things make it a scam.
They make it an unfamiliar model.
There is a difference.
The Unicaf Scholarship Programme provides financial support to students in developing countries, focusing on making higher education affordable.
UNICAF Scholarship Program 2026
Over $100 million in scholarships have been awarded, with programs available at undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels through partnerships with universities in the UK, US, Europe and Africa.
Academic
Nnalolile’s Goal is to look, listen and learn before giving you an honest personal digital consumer experience.
The more important question — which I will come back to throughout this series — is not whether Unicaf is fake.
It is whether the specific credential you receive will be recognised and valued in your specific career context.
That is a more nuanced question, and it deserves a more nuanced answer.
So what exactly is Unicaf?
UNICAF is a Cypriot for-profit online learning platform founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Nicos Nicolaou. It operates learning centers in 11 African countries including Kenya, has enrolled over 60,000 students since inception, and partners primarily with British universities including Liverpool John Moores University, University of East London, and University of Suffolk.
Unicaf and Jubilee Holdings Sign MoU to Expand Access to Affordable Higher Education
In July 2025, Unicaf signed a strategic partnership with Jubilee Holdings Limited in Nairobi to offer scholarships for online degree programs through UK and African universities.
The partnership aims to expand access to affordable, flexible higher education in Kenya and East Africa.
The simplest way to understand their model:
- they partner with accredited universities,
- deliver the programmes online,
- and heavily subsidise tuition through their scholarship system.
The result is that a student in Nairobi can pursue a degree from a UK university for a fraction of what that same degree would cost if they flew to Liverpool and enrolled in person:
with the option of graduating on campus.
They were founded in 2012, are headquartered in Cyprus, and operate across more than a dozen African countries.
UNICAF has
- Trust Signal: Scholarship is a fee reduction, not a cash bursary.
- Local Context: Includes insights on CUE recognition and HR perceptions in Nairobi.
- Transparency: Disclosure of referral partnership and personal enrollment in MSc Business Psychology.
They also have their own institution — Unicaf University — with physical campuses in
- Zambia,
- Malawi,
- and Uganda,
which gives them a hybrid identity: partly platform, partly university. Like an Online Shool.
UNICAF UNIVERSITY RECEIVES LICENSE FROM THE COMMISSION FOR UNIVERSITY EDUCATION IN KENYA
Unicaf University received a license from Kenya’s Commission for University Education (CUE) to operate as a student recruitment agency.
The press briefing included Kenyan Ministry of Education officials and confirmed that over 1,240 Kenyan students have enrolled through Unicaf, with US$90 million in scholarships offered to African students for internationally recognized qualifications.

The university partnerships — the most important thing to understand
When you enrol through Unicaf, you are not simply enrolling in “Unicaf.”
You are enrolling in a specific programme offered by a specific partner university.
The degree you graduate with bears that university’s name on the certificate. This distinction matters enormously when the question of employer recognition comes up.
Search data confirms that people are already doing this verification independently.
Searches for “liverpool john moores university“ are up 500% in the past five years. “LJMU” as a standalone term is up 1,650%. “University of east london” is up 600%.
People are encountering Unicaf and immediately Googling the institutions behind it — which is exactly the right instinct.

The programme you choose determines which institution’s name appears on your certificate. Before you commit to anything, confirm that in writing with your admissions advisor.
The scholarship model — how it actually works
Unicaf’s scholarship is a fee reduction applied to the published tuition fee for your chosen programme.
The published fees vary by programme and partner university. For context, a full-fee postgraduate programme through Unicaf ranges from roughly $3,000 to $7,000 depending on the degree and the institution.
The constant UNICAF Scholarshio offer is 60% but UNICAF sometimes give generous scholarships, like currently we have 80%, reducing fee to approximately 3700 pounds for UK partenrs and $3000 for UNICAF Universities, payable in lumpsum(extra discounts applicable) or in installments.
The scholarship offer is made when you apply. You submit an expression of interest, an admissions advisor reviews your profile, and you receive a formal offer letter specifying both the full fee and the scholarship amount.
The offer is specific to you and the programme — it is not a blanket figure.
There are additional fees outside the scholarship that you should confirm upfront:
registration fees,
examination fees for certain programmes,
and any professional body registration costs that sit outside Unicaf’s control.
We Got the complete fee breakdown in writing before we accepted UNICAF Scholarship for Business Psychology accept.
Practical — Covering the remaining percentage
The fee you pay after the scholarship is real money, and for most working professionals in Nairobi it does not come from a single source.
Some students use a SACCO loan.
Some spread it across instalments — which Unicaf allows of monthly Installments.
Some use a private group contribution kitty like we did.
Platforms like OneKitty — a Kenyan-built, CBK-partnered fundraising tool — are increasingly being used for exactly this purpose:
a small, closed group of family members, colleagues, or friends each contributing toward a specific goal. A KES 50,000 tuition top-up shared across ten people is KES 5,000 each. The infrastructure exists.
Most people do not think to use it this way.
One more thing worth saying plainly: the scholarship is not a trick to get you in the door and then charge you more. The fee structure is documented in your offer letter. If you are uncertain, ask your admissions advisor for itemized costs and do not pay anything until you understand exactly what you are paying for.
List of Accredited Student Recruitment Agencies in Kenya
This November 2025 article confirms that Unicaf is recognized as a CUE-licensed student recruitment agency in Kenya. The Commission for University Education regulates agencies to ensure Kenyans are recruited to accredited foreign institutions, with annual license renewals and quality assurance oversight.
What programmes are available — and which make sense for Kenyan professionals
- MBA (General Management, Digital Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Healthcare Management)
- MSc Management ·
- MSc Project Management
- MSc Artificial Intelligence & Data Science
- MSc Internet of Things
- MSc Computer Science
- MSc Cybersecurity
- MA Education
- MEd Educational Leadership
- MSc Psychology
- MSc Public Health
For the Kenyan professional market specifically, the MBA and the MSc AI and Data Science consistently draw the highest interest.
The MBA because a postgraduate business credential remains a meaningful signal in Kenyan corporate hiring.
The AI and Data Science route because demand for these skills is outpacing supply in Nairobi’s tech and financial sectors at a pace that is accelerating, not stabilising.
Search data shows MBA as a stable, persistent search term — it is not a trend, it is a consistently demanded credential.
Who Unicaf is built for?
- ✓You are employed or running a business and cannot take two years out to study full-time. You need a programme that fits around your work, not one that requires you to restructure your life around it.
- ✓You have financial constraints. A Private executive MBA or international UK tuition is beyond your current reach, but you want a credential that carries more weight than your current qualifications offer.
- ✓You are self-directed enough to manage your own learning. Online education requires you to show up for yourself. There is no commute forcing you to a lecture hall.
- ✓You want international recognition — because the Kenyan hiring market still carries a premium for UK and international qualifications at the postgraduate level.
- ✗If you are a recent school leaver with no income, unreliable internet access, or no prior degree, Unicaf’s model is not built for your situation. That is not a criticism — it is a straightforward question of fit, fix that first.
The recognition question — what do Kenyan employers actually think?
We are going to give you an honest, layered answer, because a single yes or no would be misleading.
The credential is legitimate and the accreditation is real. Any Kenyan employer who recognises those institution names will treat the degree accordingly. The practical challenge in Nairobi is familiarity — not every HR manager will immediately place LJMU or University of East London in their mental hierarchy of universities. The degree is real; the name recognition work is yours. Your experience and what you take from you is your hard or smart work.
Recognition is more dependent on sector. In multinational companies, international NGOs, and development organisations where degree verification is rigorous, the regional accreditation holds. In smaller local companies, you may need to explain the model.
Student reviews on Trustpilot show mixed experiences, with over 1,138 customer reviews. Positive feedback highlights responsive student advisors, smooth scholarship application processes, and affordable MBA programs. Some negative reviews cite issues with certificate delivery and lecturer support.
“Searches for ‘unicaf kenya’ and ‘unicaf university kenya’ are currently declining.
This is not a sign that Unicaf is losing relevance.
It is a sign that Kenya-specific content about UNICAF is almost nonexistent.
The search volume is low because the conversation has barely happened anywhere in any depth.
That is the gap Nnalolile For Business is here to fill.
In Month 5 of this series, I will publish primary research — direct conversations with Kenyan HR managers and hiring decision-makers across sectors — about how Unicaf credentials actually land on a CV in Nairobi.
That piece will give you specific, grounded answers that no amount of Googling currently provides.
How to apply — the practical version
The process is more accessible than most Kenyan university admissions, and I walked through it myself earlier this year.
You go to unicaf.org and find your programme. You complete a short interest form. An admissions advisor contacts you — usually within 24 to 48 hours — to discuss your eligibility and issue a scholarship offer.
Ours took longer, a month.
Why?
Yvi friends & Family had to convince us it was worth it.
Documents you will typically need:
- your most recent degree certificate and transcripts,
- a copy of your national ID or passport,
- a current CV,
and for some programmes, a personal statement or reference letters.
Nnalolile had to reach out to Mr. Amukune, Founder of Madavi Agency and Co-Founder and CEO of Aboosto Group of Companies, Mr. Guled Khadar, hoping they will put in a good word for us when the Academic officer calls.
You receive a formal offer letter with your scholarship amount specified. If you accept, you pay the registration fee and gain access to the UNICAF-UEL Student Portal.
The timeline from application to enrolled is measured in weeks rather than months.
There is no entry examination and no in-person interview. Ready to explore Unicaf for yourself?
Study Masters in the UK
If you are considering applying, I would encourage you to use the Nnalolile for Business UNICAF referral link.
Not only will we receive $200 per enrolled student who applies this way- which will be channeled towards Nnalolile Yvi Projects.
And, also we get to be Schoolmates.
What we offer in return is twelve months of honest editorial coverage of this platform — and a community of Kenyan professionals navigating the same decision
Answer: While Unicaf University (Zambia/Malawi/Uganda) is regionally accredited, degrees from UK partners like University of East London are accredited by the UK Quality Assurance Agency. Recognition by Kenya’s CUE depends on the specific partner institution.
Answer: The “catch” is often perceived as the speed of the offer, but it is a standard digital-first enrollment model. Students must still cover remaining tuition (often via SACCO or tools like OneKitty).
referral commission of $200 per enrolled student. Editorial independence is maintained — see disclosure note at top of post.
What this series gives you that Unicaf’s website cannot
Unicaf’s website will tell you the best version of Unicaf.
That is what every institution’s website is for.
Over the next eleven months, Nnalolile For Business will give you the accurate version.
We are inside their system, waiting in real time, and we will report on
- the curriculum quality against our local universities
- the platform reliability,
- the tutor responsiveness,
- the student support quality,
- and the actual impact on my professional life —
as a founder, a marketer, and a Kenyan professional navigating a market that still asks for credentials I have been building without a formal postgraduate stamp.
The “is it fake” question has a short answer:
no.
But the better question — is it worth it, for you, in your career, in your sector, in Kenya — deserves twelve months of evidence.
That evidence is what this series will build.
If Unicaf earns it, the referral link stays. If it doesn’t, it comes down and you will be the first to know. That is the standard this publication holds itself to.
