The Proposed:
Yvisensual Health
& Wellness Centre
Yvisensual is a proposed sanctuary for restoration — a space we’re dreaming into being, where healing happens when you disconnect from the noise and reconnect with your authentic self, rooted in nature, creativity, and community.
Explore the Vision →Healing is a journey back to yourself
At Yvifarms — our 60 acres of community-gifted land in Uganda — we’re proposing a community-supported space where mental wellness meets cultural wisdom, where therapy feels like coming home, and where the journey to wholeness is honored at every step.
“We’re not just building a wellness centre. We’re cultivating a community where healing happens, where people find their way back to themselves, and where hope is restored through personal experiences.”
Four pathways to wholeness
Drawing from mind-body medicine principles, our proposed approach integrates rest, creativity, professional care, and the land itself.
We envision sacred spaces away from screens and notifications, where you can breathe, reflect, and simply be. Immersed in nature’s rhythm, healing begins in stillness.
Our proposed programs draw inspiration from innovative medical music therapy approaches, combining art, music, and logic-based interventions to support healing across mind, body, and spirit.
We envision therapeutic programs that address:
- Respiratory & cardiac wellness through breathing techniques integrated with musical expression
- Pain management using music meditation and clinical improvisation
- Emotional regulation for anxiety, depression, and trauma through creative expression
- Cognitive support for memory, focus, and processing challenges
- Performance wellness for artists and creatives experiencing burnout or creative blocks
- Children and teens with developmental, emotional, or behavioral needs
This pathway has grown into its own creative arm, YviArture, and will be supported by it going forward — atotoatori.co.ke/yviarture.
We’re building an approach that honors both clinical excellence and cultural context — evidence-based psychological support that respects your background, values your story, and meets you where you are.
At Yvisensual, we believe meaningful psychological care in Africa must be rooted in the realities of the communities it serves. We draw inspiration from professionals across the continent who are quietly, faithfully doing the work — particularly those who have served in crisis settings, brought mental health into government corridors, and sat with people in their darkest hours.
One such inspiration is the work done at organizations like Mindful Psychotherapy Services in Kenya — led by professionals such as Melissa Maya Kioko, whose career reflects exactly the kind of grounded, compassionate, community-facing psychology we hope to embody. Melissa has served as a psychologist with the Nairobi City County Government and provided psychological first aid and psychosocial support to COVID-19 patients in isolation centers through the Kenya Red Cross.
We wish to be clear: Melissa Maya Kioko and Mindful Psychotherapy Services have no affiliation with Yvisensual or Nnalolile. We reference their work purely as an inspiration.
In step with this vision, our founder is currently enrolled at the University of East London via Unicaf, building the clinical grounding behind this pillar.
Experience Mama Sanyu and Yvi-farms in Beaulah Lands. Our vision includes reconnecting with the land at Yvifarms — our 60-acre sanctuary where farming and native living programs help you plant, harvest, and live in harmony with seasons and soil. Here, therapy becomes something you can touch, taste, and tend — where healing meets harvest.
Mama Sanyu owns several lands across Uganda, where she enrolls young men aged 16 and above who want to learn farming. When they are mature and grown enough in their craft, they go on to become their own people — independent, skilled, and self-sufficient.
She is looking to extend this model into the DRC and Southern Sudan, alongside other skills — including Seroca Beauty Therapy, where she enrolls women into arts and cultural skills that meet modern-world standards while maintaining our African identity. This is supported by B. Kunta Styles.
We hope Yvisensual will one day stand alongside excellent practitioners as part of a growing ecosystem of mental health care in East Africa.
What we believe
Yvifarms · 60 acres of community-gifted land
Our 60-acre sanctuary, governed by Mama Sanyu Foundation, provides agricultural training and experience to farmers and attendees through technology-driven agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, and eco-friendly practices.
A landscape of soil, soft light, and space to breathe — the kind of quiet that makes room for restoration, and the foundation on which a community-supported sanctuary can grow slowly and well.
Learning from those already doing the work
Yvisensual is a proposed centre, not yet staffed. But we pay attention to the people already doing this work across East Africa — and we learn from them.
We are inspired by practitioners who have brought psychology into county governments, sat with COVID patients in isolation, offered psychosocial support when systems were overwhelmed, and built private practices rooted in mindfulness and rehabilitation. Their commitment shows us what is possible — and necessary.
Building this, deliberately, with our Yvi Friends & Family
Yvisensual Health & Wellness Centre is a not-for-profit project run by the Nnalolile Yvi Trust, in the proposal and development stage. We’re building this vision with intention, care, and the support of our Yvi Friends & Family — growing it slowly, like good things should. Want to be part of this?
- Mental health organizations interested in holistic retreat development
- Educational institutions exploring alternative therapy programs
- Community groups supporting wellness initiatives
- Corporate entities prioritizing employee mental health
- Agricultural organizations focused on sustainable farming
- Yvi Friends & Family — those who simply believe in giving back to the community
Yvisensual is run as a not-for-profit project of the Nnalolile Yvi Trust. The Trust alone holds and manages financial records; this page is a place to express support, not a financial offering, and supporters should not expect a financial return.
Leave your details and a short message, and we’ll follow up directly.
Once established, Yvisensual will offer
Help us cultivate the sanctuary
Supports development of offline retreat facilities, music and art therapy equipment, psychology and counseling program setup, agricultural training infrastructure, and community wellness workshops — the founding capital for the centre itself.
While we build Yvisensual, mental health emergencies don’t wait. This fund provides immediate crisis counseling, emergency music/art therapy interventions, temporary retreat sponsorships, and resources for at-risk community members.
More ways to give
