He was looking for an East African girl to write him stories. He wanted to read erotic stories, 5000 words. He would pay 50 usd. No spelling mistakes. His readers, he claimed, were Italians learning to speak English.
“Write it like a bedtime story,” he said.
But I never finished a story. Everytime, he would ask for another. And, he would pay in advance for it. From simple serenades we were selling a book series, so I thought. But I never saw any published. I scraped the web, no single line, no feedback. He wanted the stories for himself, I concluded.
“We are doing well,” he encouraged but I was quitting. He wished me well. I promised to write him sometimes and never did.
I was graduating campus when a strange man popped a request. I was hired immediately.
At midnight. Location, Canada. “Yvi wouldn’t pick USA, she didn’t like any other dollar but she has a softspot for Canada, pounds would be too obvious,” he might have thought. He posed as a young man doing a research in fashion and needed pictures of a girl in skirts. E for effort in disguise.
Nothing short, below the knees would be fine.
He would pay 50 dollars per pictures. I would download the pictures if I wished. I would definitely crop my face and I’ll send a couple, but i submitted a full one, just incase. He promised to send me his. He said, he works for Macs, he makes burgers or something. But it wasn’t the pictures he wanted.
He wanted us to talk. He wanted us to talk about petty things. Like what I did for my day, and if I didn’t feel like sending a picture of a girl in skirt, he didn’t mind. He still released my milestones. I liked him. He just had too much money to waste and I didn’t waste his, I soon left the freelancers. They called me trying to find information about him but, I just told them, all the young man wantedwas pictures of girls in skirts.
Everyone was reading our messages, apparently!
“And all we did was talk”, I had defended myself, “I’m sure the system can see into that.” I received an apology. I got a free annual subscription on a 50 dollar credit. Well, I was quiting anyway.
